The history of counseling psychology has been previously documented through a number of different venues, reflecting particular events, such as the founding of the Division of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association (APA) (e.g., Scott, 1980); the founding of the Journal of Counseling Psychology (e.g., Wrenn, 1966); definitions of counseling psychology at particular points (e.g., Jordaan, Myers, Layton, & Morgan, 1968); or historical developments within a particular time period (e.g., Robinson, 1964).
