A History of Contemporary Korea

About this book

"This important new study by a distinguished Korean scholar on the history of twentieth-century Korea has a two-part structure: Part 1 considers the Japanese colonial period, including detailed accounts of the anti-Japanese independence movements, followed in Part 2 by the liberation of Korea, the Korean War and political developments up to the late 1980s." "Unlike most chronological histories, the author approaches events thematically in terms of their political, social, economic and cultural significance, and will be required reading at many levels in the context of East Asian Studies generally."--BOOK JACKET.
