Pinakothek der Moderne

About this book

The Pinakothek der Moderne is a centre of international standing for 20th and 21st century art, architecture and design. It is one of the largest new museums in the world. Four collections come together in Stephan Braunfels's new building to create a "musee total" of Modernism, sweeping away the boundaries between the genres. This book shows how the many connections with the history of the city, museums and architecture make the third Pinakothek a sum of the most important achievements in this building genre from Classicism to Modernism. The book provides a detailed documentation of the design and its sources of inspiration.
